First off, thanks for visiting my blog. This is my first venture into the world of blogging, and I can only hope you find my stories interesting enough to return and to hopefully post comments. I am “Dad Under Fire” (DUF), the father of awesome 4-year-old and 1-year-old boys. For the past 5 years I have also been (and continue to be) a full-time professional firefighter in one of North America’s top 5 biggest departments.

Needless to say my life has been turned upside-down in the last 4 years and now I want to share it with all of you. I am going to share my experiences as a dad, a husband and a firefighter. I am going to use this small space on the internet to brag, complain and get some things off my chest that would normally fester inside if I didn’t discuss it (as is the case with some dads, some husbands and ALL firefighters). I will also be providing some perspective on separating from my wife and venturing into the world on my own and my experiences of being a single parent.

Some things I write you may agree with, and some you may not. You may find some of it funny… or not. Hopefully if anything, I can generate some healthy discussion and debate.

Again, I want to thank you for taking the time to visit and read a bit about me. Also, please feel free to comment on anything you see here.
